Take off this summer into the “Wild Blue Yonder” under the direction of highly experienced Certified Flight Instructors (CFI)! Campers experience both piloting and passenger roles in four-seat, single-engine aircraft while logging flight time through a local flight school program. They learn the science of flight, including fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, flight planning, aviation safety, airport and aircraft design, and the mechanics of instruments and engines.
Hands-on activities include flying lessons, rocket building and launches (some using 3D printers), and aviation-themed art projects. Campers also enjoy field trips to places such as the Air and Space Museum, NASA Goddard, or major area airports, plus aviation trivia contests with prizes. Experienced staff and counselors hold Private Pilot and Drone Licenses, providing guidance for campers considering future careers in aviation or aerospace.
Please note, there is an additional waiver required to participate in flight day. You can view the waiver here as well as during the registration process.
