Aviation: The Sky’s The Limit

AGES: 11 – 17
WEEKS: July 29, August 5
TIME: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
FEE: $730 per week

Take off this summer, into the “Wild Blue Yonder,” under the direction of highly- experienced Certified Flight Instructors (CFI)! During a week of wide-ranging aviation and aerospace activities, campers are both pilot and passenger in a four-seat, single-engine aircraft.

Campers learn the science of “why planes fly,” focusing on both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. They also learn about flight planning, aviation safety, airport and aircraft design, and the mechanics of aircraft instruments and engines—all put into practice during hands-on activities including their flying lesson, where the CFI signs off on their logged flight time. Campers become rocket scientists as they build and launch rockets along with studying the history of space exploration. They learn from distinguished guests about aerodynamics, airport architecture, the history of flying, careers in aviation, and future aviation happenings – from drones to outer space. Engaging in art-related projects, campers design terminals of the future or bring their dreams of space travel to life. Each session, campers will take an aviation-related field trip, to places such as the Air and Space Museum or NASA Goddard, and participate in an aviation trivia contest – complete with prizes.
